Guardian Puppies

Our guardian families are the cornerstone of our breeding program. Their role is essential to us, as we believe that the best environment for our breeding dogs isn't a traditional kennel but rather a loving, forever home. We painstakingly select potential breeding dogs from our litters and match them up with the most suitable families. This way, we ensure that all our breeding dogs are brought up in nurturing homes where they get the care and attention they deserve.

A guardian pup may come at a reduced upfront cost under contract. For $1500, you will become the owner of one of the picks of our litters. We pay for 2 years pet insurance, which is one less thing for you to think about, as well as a lifetime council registration. This way you can feel at ease that your pup has the best start to life.

While we do offer our Guardians at a favourable reduced price, these selected dogs, being the pick of the litter, do come with certain obligations concerning training, socialization, feeding, and grooming. As a guardian, you would be responsible for the day to day general costs of owning a dog, so the basic training, and reasonable quality diet and their grooming. While we cover all breeding-related costs and health testing. Most of the time, we try to handle all the logistics during the breeding times, but there might be instances where your assistance would be needed to help with a vet visit here and there or just helping by driving your dog to me if I am low on time.

The boys may be under guardian contracts until they reach the age of 5. They can participate in one to several breeding sessions a year, typically requiring their services for a few hours or a night or two at a time. So their time in the program is longer, but their commitment for each breeding is fairly short. Our boys don't tend to stick around to provide child support!

On the other hand, the girls are contracted for two litters, with an option for a third if the guardian wishes to proceed. If they pass all of their health tests, we look at having our first litter at 18mths, and then generally plan for a second 12 months later. During breeding times, the girls may come and visit for a few days and then they come home for 8 of the 9 weeks of their pregnancy. The girls return to us about a week before their due date and stay until the puppies are weaned at 5 or 6 weeks, usually requiring a stay of 6 to 7 weeks.

If you're considering becoming a guardian family, please get in touch. While it's not for everyone, it can be an incredibly rewarding experience for many dog owners. Not only will you have the opportunity to see your dog become a parent and contribute to the next generation of puppies, but you'll also receive all the benefits of owning a dog without bearing the full financial responsibility. Plus, you'll have the support and guidance of an experienced breeder throughout the process.
